Take Precautions to Avoid Having Your Car Stolen

Having your car stolen can be both frightening and costly. It is estimated that car theft cost drivers as much as $6 billion in 2017 alone. The majority of cars are stolen by professional thieves looking to make money, but at least half of these thefts can be prevented. We here at Kyners Auto Sales want to give you a friendly reminder to take these commonsense precautions to avoid having your car stolen:

  • Turn your car off before you get out. Never leave it running unattended for any reason.
  • Make sure your car doors are always kept locked.
  • To keep thieves from being able to easily tow your vehicle, park with your tires turned toward the curb or toward some other obstruction.
  • Don't leave items like cell phones, GPS devices, cash, jewelry, or laptops in your car.
  • Have your vehicle's VIN number etched onto all the windows. Thieves will think twice about stealing a car that is so easily identifiable.
